The artistic practice of Alex Reynolds is characterized by a constant obsession with experimentation with film codes. Her work explores the invasive and expansive potential of the point of view, empathy or rhythm, as well as the composition of power structures around fiction. For this encounter at the EACC, two members of the project Cine por venir (Sonia Martínez and Miguel Ángel Baixauli) will discuss with the artist on the basis of her film Ver nieve (2016) exhibited within the framework of the exhibition Te toca a ti. Its nomadic forum for the exchange of processes related to contemporary image explores the relationships with other artistic and social practices. What is cinema today, how to do it, and for whom is the thematic link of all her activities. On this occasion, Ver nieve will allow us to explore these and other issues from a film whose main character claims to embody cinema. Her steps are also an image.

Alex Reynolds (Bilbao, 1978) is an artist and filmmaker living between Brussels and Berlin. She has recently shown her work in Hollybush Gardens (London), Estrany de la Mota (Barcelona), FRAC Lorraine (Metz), Galería Marta Cervera (Madrid), Playground Festival (Lovaina), Tabakalera (San Sebastián) Artium (Vitoria), Komplot (Brussels), CAC (Vilnius), National Music and Theatre Library of Sweden (Stockholm), or Bonniers Konsthall (Stockholm). Her films have been viewed in festivals such as FIDMarseille, Les Rencontres Internationales, Aesthetica Film Festival and Kunstfimtage Düsseldorf.

Cine por venir emerged in 2013 with the aim of articulating a forum for exchange, exhibition, production and reflection on film and contemporary film image.
